Welcome
GMS Hygiene and Infection Control (GMS HIC) is an international open access journal, published by the German Society of Hospital Hygiene (DGKH) and jointly supported by the Austrian Society of Hospital Hygiene, the Belgium Indoor Air Quality Society (IAQ), the French Society of Hospital Hygiene (FSH), the Polish Society of Clinical Microbiology, the Polish Society for Scientific Treatment of Wounds and the Turkish Disinfection, Antisepsis and Sterilization Association (DAS).
GMS HIC publishes research articles, review articles, case reports, guidelines and recommendation of the professional societies involved in the publication of GMS HIC, recommendations of the commission of Hospital Hygiene and Infection Control (KRINKO) of the Robert Koch Institute, consensus statements of expert panels, and case reports from the field of hospital hygiene and prevention. A special focus is the prevention of surgical site infections and the antiseptic treatment of chronic wounds. A key objective is to ensure patient safety and minimize health risks for health care workers (HCW). Further articles on ensuring hygienic indoor conditions (physical, chemical, climatic factors) are welcome, because of their importance for the recovery process of the patients and ensuring the health of HCW.
The journal offers experts from the field of infection control, hospital hygiene, microbiology, infectiology, wound management, and patient safety the opportunity to publish their results online. Every submission is subject to a thorough peer review. All articles are published in English.
Up to 2012 the journal has been published under the title “GMS Krankenhaushygiene Interdisziplinär”.
