Joint German Congress of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery
02. - 06.10.2006, Berlin
Welcome
Dear colleagues, dear guests,
"The Race against the Time" is the motto of our congress. For a trauma surgeon, this topic includes not only the immediate help for severely injured patients at the place of the accident, in the emergency and the operating room, but also the right type of surgery at the right time. Also, from an orthopaedic point of view, patients with tumors, rheumatic, degenerative, and other diseases also need the best surgery at the appropriate moment to achieve best possible results and to avoid late effects.
The patients own time management but also the time management of the hospital, practitioners and the operating room are in this context indispensable prerequisites for effective treatment strategies, frictionless operational sequences, and a high treatment quality.
Physicians and patients have to emanate from the race against the time as collective winners. Optimal time management and standardized treatment procedures, in terms of "Clinical Pathways" minimize stress, coordinate the treatment team, improve and shorten the treatment, and help to reduce costs. This aim will be supported by a comprehensive program of health-, research- and occupational politics and the union of orthopaedics and trauma surgery constitutes the structural background.
Through the evaluation of the submitted abstracts by a selected reviewer committee and through national and international renowned keynote speakers in almost all sessions a high scientific quality is guaranteedu. 835 oral presentations and 832 invited speakers have been selected.
With instructional courses, seminars and expert rounds, but also with novel sessions like "tips and tricks from the practice", where experts present their favourite surgical techniques, we want to attract especially young colleagues.
We also offer a broad and interesting program for physiotherapists and for the first time for operating room nurses.
Come to Berlin. We are looking forward to welcoming you.
